Boys or girls? *UPDATED*

Well, you have one more weeks of knowledge than me and a lot can happen in a week!! I do see a similarity in the white and partridge cochin in their body type and the fact that they both feathered up really quickly, whereas the red cochin is still fuzzy on the head and has a thinner body than the other two...

Yes, I did notice the red cochin is still quite a fuzzy head. Our bantam Orp roo took a long time to feather up and is still not quite done at 7 weeks tomorrow.

If I remember correctly, our Peking roo was only slightly slower to feather in than the girl/s and we debated for weeks on their gender. I was pretty sure for a while that the roo was a roo but the clincher was the rusty hinge noise he likes to make most mornings. The first time we heard it we thought one of them was in trouble because it started out sounding like one of them was choking on the pine shavings.

The roo is also slimmer than the other two. The one we know is a girl and the maybe both look very round.

Well that definitely makes me think the red cochin is a roo. Probably will be sure in the next couple weeks...

If it would be helpful, I could get hubby to take a few pics tomorrow of the male and female. If nothing else, it could help you in a week's time if the roo? hasn't started crowing.

I think that all of them are girls except the white silkie...I hope I'm right

At 6 weeks, all my bantam cochin roos were very obvious...big red combs and wattles!

Here is a picture of my red bantam frizzle cochin...he wasn't even 4 weeks old. Notice, no feathers on his head but man does he have a comb and wattles!!!!

That would be awesome! Only thing is I don't, as of this moment, have enough room for nine chickens! I may have some work to do...

Check out the pic I just posted of my almost 4 week old red frizzle and you will see why I think yours are girls

He was also the first to fully feather in!

Oh yeah... Wow! I may have really lucked out with those frizzles then. They aren't nearly as frizzley (is that a word) as yours, though... They are from a hatchery and the gene is just not all that prominent. They are still my babies, though!

Mine are hatchery too, I just lucked out with the two reds...they turned out absolutely gorgeous!!! This guy is now 17 weeks old and is getting his roo feathers in his tail...they stick up like antenae...I just love him

With frizzles, you can either get frizzle or smooth out of the same hatch. The black frizzles I had, one was a roo, frizzled and the other turned out to be a smooth pullet..I kept the pullet and gave my daughter the roo

Thought you might like to see a pic of Frieda Frizzle...she is now 17 weeks old...
