BQ keeps re-opening her head wound

A friend of mine put egg crate foam on the inside top of his quail cage to keep his quail from busting their heads open. He says it works good.

That's a great idea! I'll start saving our egg crates :)

So far this morning she looks good. Appetite is good and she's chirping and trying to preen.

I called the vet to ask why they didn't prescribe antibiotics, and they said that while the wound was old it was not infected because I'd been treating it. So that's some small comfort!

I've been bringing her to work with me so I can keep an eye on her, and when I leave my office she calls for me. She hasn't been doing that at home, so maybe it means she's starting to feel better? She's still trying to preen, the poor thing, but at least I know she can't reach her head with her feets :) And she always enjoys a good chin scratch!

I would clip her wings just to keep her safe from any head banging at all.

If she shoots up she could mess up her head even if it is only a loose towel...

Bee's head seems to be healing fine. The area around the sutures has developed a scab. It doesn't smell bad (like infected wounds tend to do) and the only time she tries to itch it is right after I've applied some Neosporin.

Here she is, snuggling against my neck--

And of her acting unsociable, lol. "Stop looking at my butt!"

UPDATE: Miss Bee got her sutures removed today and her head looks great! When the vet removed the two sutures, he also removed the scabs that had built up around the knots. He's really pleased with how well she's recovered, and told me I can stop applying the ointment and that her cone can be taken off this weekend :) Yay!
