Brahma cant get into or out of coop

Thanks for the tips.... The ramp is the same width bottom to top doesn't get narrower. Going to try adding cleats. And going to build a brahma specific roost inside that's wider.
Checked all her toes and nails and all seems fine. She did go up when coaxed but flew down.... Might see if I can widen ramp a bit. Can't really make it less long due to height. But might be able to raise bottom a bit to lower angel. Will have to McGyver this...
This isn't our first brahma but this one (brownie is her name) is bigger than our others were and she is t fully grown so still clumsy. None of our other breeds ( some just as big) don't have issue with ramp but we will have to address for her.
For now lift her up and down if needed.

My brahma also do not like ramps. Luckily the coop is low and has steps for them. I took the ramp out that lead to the roost as it was just in the way for them.

I would think with a narrow ramp she may be feeling like she could get knocked off by opposing traffic. If she is going up and someone is going down something has to give.

Lots of great suggestions by others.

Going to store now ... Going to replace ramp with a 12 inch wide plank with cleats. That is about three times the width. Also going to add a seperate roost inside just for the brahma and her other portly friend. With a step up. Due to height of coop can't do much about the length as anything shorter will make it much steeper so going to try propping end up just a bit with but still about 10 feet long.

I think the cleats will help her a lot. Not much you can do about the height.
One other reason she may not be roosting with the others is sometimes one or two will want more elbow room and be a little bossy at bed time.
Every now and then I see one of mine giving a neighbor a nasty pinch to make them move. Most of the time the one getting the pinch gets down.

Yeah I don't think she even tries to get up. She has one "friend" who cuddles with her on the bucket and it's a smaller Americuana. Hopefully this helps. Seriously the sweetest hen we have ever had. Sits in my two year olds lap and purrs like a cat. So this chicken is getting her royal treatment... Lol....

Wider ramp, with cleats(go about 4" apart and 1/2" high) and propping up lower end will help a bunch.
Good Job!

This is the ladder I made for my brahmas. About 1' wide. They go up it fine - tend to jump down. Mines about 3' high. Very low perches for mine and they are happy.

I will take a pic tomm but made a new ramp with a 12 inch wide 12 foot long plank and cleats every 3-4 inches .... She went up no problem. Thank god! But watched tonight in roost and she was sitting butt hanging out coop door bc one of the dominant hens ( ironically a teeny tiny bantam Easter egger with a bad tude) wasn't letting her roost... So I went in and out her up on the new lower roost bar myself and she stayed.
Thanks for advice it was spot on!

Great!!
Kudos for getting it fixed quickly.

Happen to have a very accommodating father in law who brought it over already built to spec in a two hour turn around bc my husband is out of town and using a table saw with a two year old poses challenges lol....
