Hi all, just wanted to follow up. I hear you that you all think it was a predator, but I am leaning towards thinking that it was one of these nasty juvenile roosters who has since been caged. The trail of feathers started at the feeder in the garage and went outside to their hangout by the creek. If a predator were to have (foolishly) entered the garage, my 3 shepherd dogs would have noticed. I noticed that 4 of the 6 Brahmas were missing feathers on their backs, and it looks like the feathers are starting to grow back now (photos from tonight). I am amazed tho that the chick survived outside overnight. There are tons of natural predators in this area (foxes, hawks, coyotes, even a bear lives down the street).
