Hi everyone I have thiis beautiful trio of dark brahma's,the hens lay every day and are fed on a high protein and calcium feed, but somehow the fertility is very low,can someone maybe give some help or problems and solutions with this PLZ!

Two things - its probably not the hen, fertility usually comes from the roo's ability to get things done or not, and his actual fertility rate...

Try trimming the vent areas on both boy and girls, and/or Artificially inseminate (AI) to see if your fertility improves, if you see a marketed difference you know its because he can't 'reach' or is being blocked by fluff. This is a common issue with cochins and silkies, also with brahmas I would imagine as they are similarly fluffy and big bodied.

If you do not see much if any improvement in the fertility after AI or butt trims, then I would say the rooster has a poor 'sperm count' and would definately get another rooster.

If he just has bad fertility and the girls are really nice, get them another boy and get him some pet girls of any breed to be a 'man' for, but just have those eggs for eating or something.

One of my friends was so kind to give me another brahma rooster of excellent tipe,I have trimmed Butch and his girls just to see if the fluff was the problem but if it doesn't work he will be the man of the light sussex girls coop!
