BRAHMA CHICKS (large bread)

Hi everyone,

Please can someone help me? I have a 10 year old son and all he wanted for his birthday were baby chickens. We found some (from the 27th of March so currently 4 weeks old) and he is brilliant with them, spending hours a day with them..plays with them and everything. He is already really attached to them but we are worried that we have multiple males. Is there anyone at all that could help me with this??
I was lucky got all girls...but I was reading up on this and there is something in the shape of their little feathers -- however, I didn't need to check mine. Got them from Wilco Farms Stores and they are 90% accurate (according to their sign). My two ducks on the other hand were not sexed but I ended up with one of each. Good luck. It is SO easy to get attached to them.

Hi, thank you for your message. Yip he did.

But here is the ad for them. I just noticed that there maybe other breeds mentioned...
Yes, looks like he was saying, in a not very clear way, that the rooster was brahma and the hens were several different breeds. Most people sell them as backyard mixes. I can't say he was trying to deceive you, but he could have been clearer. I personally love mixes. I find them to be unique and hardy.
Good luck!

As adults, yes the roosters have some feathers a different shape than the hens.
But that doesn't show up until they are 2+ months old.

The roosters get long, skinny feathers with pointy tips growing from the saddle area (on the back), and hanging down on both sides. Hens have broaded feathers with rounded ends in that area, the same shape as the feathers on most other parts of the body for both genders.
