Brahma egg size

My light brahmas were born early September and I think they just started laying however, their eggs were small. Like the same size as my silkie eggs. They were a dark brown and laid in a different part of the roost than my silkies lay so I dont think it was my silkies. We were just confused because they were so small. So my question is, when they first start laying, are their eggs small?

It's pretty normal for hens to lay small eggs when they first start. Give them a little time, and the eggs should start getting bigger.

Don't be too alarmed if you get weird eggs also. Things like soft shells and odd shapes are normal for new layers too. Sometimes it takes them a while to work out all the kinks.
