My roo doesn't have pretty feathers on his feet. I kept him away from the hens for a couple of months because they peck at his feet and legs. I thought it would help them heal. No luck. I wrapped his legs and put him back, and the hens ganged up and tried to eat what was left of his feet. There's blu-kote on him as well. Any idea what's going on? Pics are of the tops of his toes. One of the pics is the girls pecking at him, while he's trying to get away. There's even blood on their beaks.

Wow, poor thing!

Usually, there are two main reasons for feather picking...overcrowding and lack of protein.

Just in case, maybe check your square footage. Chickens should have 4 square feet of space in their coop, and 15 square feet in their run.

If they're not on an all flock which is usually 20% protein, you might want to consider changing to that. You'd have to supply oyster shell in a separate dish for the layers.

I can see he's trying to grow new feathers out. Until this gets figured out, I'd separate him from them so he can heal up and grow his feathers back.

If it's one in particular doing it, I'd separate that one.

Looks like he may also have Scaly Leg Mites, hard to tell.

I'd apply some NuStock Cream or Castor oil to the legs at least weekly for a month or two, see if that helps them heal up too.
Good catch! I think you're right!
