BRAHMA MAHMA TRAHMA AGAIN! New chick emergency!

yeah. I found it in the corner of the nest box (rectangle milk crate with low sides).

I know that's not a good sign because most hens just "know" things about their chicks, but I had to try to help.

Alright then heres my guess how they are getting injured. Mom kicks them out or they get out by themselves then if there are other birds in the same encloser (how the heck do you spell that anyway lol???) the OTHER birds are attacking the chicks. Its deppressing but it happens. I wouldnt put it past my chickens to do that

PS helping is FINE. The only way I would actually let my hens have there babies is that they were alone in a different coop with a wood border at the bottom. Adding more coops hopefully mid summer thrue august... moms

The mother hen is the only one there! I separated her from the rest because of that! So I don't know what's going on... Last year I had one chick hatch successfully under a broody (don't know if its the same one). But I think everything will be fine. I put the EEs under her for my friend, so if this chick survives I won't have to worry about putting it back with its mean momma anyways.

Pretty good! She's been walking more and will come see me when I check on her. As long as green poo is okay, then she's fine. She's been pecking at the towel under her, so I put a little tiny dish of chick starter out, and a little dish of brown sugar water too. I doubt she'll eat it, but I figured it wouldn't hurt. She seems very healthy except for her ear.

Me too!

I keep checking on her just to make sure! I can tell you right now I'll wake up in the middle of the night to check on her, or wake up early...I feel like a broody!

Glad your chick's doing better. Just a quick note... I've had EE chicks and 3 colors of Brahma chicks. EE chicks are striped like yours, but so are Dark Brahma chicks. Light and Buff Brahmas are not striped. Good Luck!

When my dad took the rest of the eggs from my broody and gave them to my other broody he was able to see the shell that the chick came from - GREEN! So she's an EE. And she's been doing well! I think I want to call her Van Gogh because of her ear, but I'll let my friend name her because she will be going to her.
