Brahma not laying eggs HELP

Welcome to BYC! I'm glad you joined us! I would suspect lack of enough daylight could be causing her not to lay; hopefully, she will begin again once spring comes!

why don't you try giving her some greens or what i use to do is buy some wheat and oats soak them in water overnight then pour the water out and allow them to sproat . i used a shallow baking dish and kept them in a warm spot mixing them around every 8 hours. it takes bout 3 days and keep warm and moist but not wet. give her a couple of handsfull she will love it

I'm new to the chicken world. We have two back yard chickens. One is a Americana and the other is a Brahma. Our Americana has been laying a egg every other day. Why our Brahma hasn't laid and egg now for 7 months. Both chickens are young. They will be 2 in the fall. We have done everything to get the Brahma to laid extra oyster, good feed, and even taken her to the vet and she is in good health. I just don't understand why she not laying eggs. Do they have a cycle? We live in AZ so I don't think we get to cold. Can understand why she doesn't lay in Aug. and Sept just to hot. But to go this long with out an egg is puzzling. Can any one tell me why she is not laying eggs, I don't know what to do. Thanks.
I have brahmas they're going on a year old and I have four that refuse to lay I have three that give me anywhere from 2:00 to 4 eggs a day I don't understand why the other brahmas won't lay

BTW, 3 birds will not lay more than three total eggs in a day. How do you know who is laying and who is not? It is likely they are all laying, they just don't lay every day.

Yes she did go thru a molt but she been done with that for about 2 months now. I will try a light. Thanks
I’ve had a similar frustration with my three Brahmas. They went through a molt but it’s been several months and they still haven’t laid eggs. Except for one very distorted shaped egg a week ago. They are large three year old hens and they eat twice as much as the others so not so sure that they are worth it except that they are beautiful and pleasant part of the flock. when they were laying, they produced beautiful, brown eggs. Their environment has remained the same. And there aren’t any extra stressors that I can see. I feed them a high protein diet. Although I supplement with some chicken scratch which my understanding is lower protein, and all the chickens tend to eat the scratch first but I don’t give them more scratch until after they’ve eaten the 16% layer feed. So not only do they have opportunity, they are eating the feed. Why aren’t they laying?

16% is not a high protein feed. And if your birds aren't laying eggs they shouldn't be eating layer feed.

If your birds are 3 years old, once they finish molting they don't generally pick back up again laying until the spring. They're taking well deserved break from cranking out all those eggs. It's the natural aging process of a chicken. If you don't want to keep them around because they aren't producing eggs for you you can turn them into stew. I personally let my birds live out there complete lives here whether they're laying eggs for me or not because I enjoy them so much.
