Brahma thread

We have Sundheimers which seem to be very close to Brahmas, I'm very interested in how to domesticate them too as we have them as pets over produce. They are 2 weeks old and a little nervous!

Mine are 4 1/2 months and they are still scared of us. What am I doing wrong?
I'm not very sure, I spend time with my chickens everyday and hand-feed them treats every morning. I'd start giving them a tiny bit of treats and call them over to you by shaking the can of treats. You could sit down with them and sprinkle the treats around you and try to get them to eat out of your hands.. And as for bedding i would use hay.

Hello! I’m wanting to get a Brahma because I have a fear of spiders. We get yellow garden spiders. They’re fairly large and make little zigzags in the webs. Would brahmas eat them? It’s not entirely for the spiders, I really just want a chicken child, but my mom won’t let me get any until I can confirm. Any help would be appreciated, thank you!

I'm not sure. All of the ones I've ever seen were up high, and Brahmas won't go after them if their web is too high up.

Yeah, Brahmas aren't very flighty, hoppy, so if the webs are up higher than about 18 inches or so it's not likely they will see them enough to go after them.

Hi Enkue
Just read your post and couldn't help but looking through my file to find a picture of a spider, the kind of which visits us every year and sounds like the one you describe. This probably won't help allay your fear of spiders but, be assured this kind will not hurt you, unless you threaten it and stick your finger in her web. It does a lot of good in the garden by eating insects many of which are not good. So, enjoy your Brahmas and don't worry about the spiders. I hope you get more than one Brahma as they get lonely by themselves.
This isn't the best picture as the yellow is much deeper.
