Brahmas: Light, Dark, or Mix? Also, Polish Question

The Polish are certainly very pretty birds at least. My little cousins just love their hair doo! Rachel, my little 7 year old cousin even lent me one of her purple hair ties to put up the polish's hair doo. How sweet :)

When did your light brahmas start to lay? I have one coming onto 5 months and she doesn't seem to be even entertaining the idea.

Soon very soon and I think you will be very happy with your eggs, big nice color and shape. and they lay well also.

I'm thinking your chick may not be a light brahma (at least not a pure one)- the comb type is wrong. I believe brahmas are supposed to have pea combs.

Here's mine at 7 weeks - I'm hoping it's a pullet, but think it's a roo.

The MM Hatchery catalog says pea comb, so YES I guess you're right. Must be mixed breed, but still pretty.

Well, the gold laced polish is a roo & I think the buff is a pullet... I wouldn't be to hasty on the RIRs. Neither of them have any red color to their combs, and they are still very young. The bigger brahma looks like it might have some red to it's comb, which at this age would probably make me lean more towards cockerel. The other one I'm not even going to venture a guess - way to immature yet. I'd just wait it out though - you'll know for sure what all of them are soon enough! Good Luck!!

I'm going to agree with the above. I think the golden laced is definitely a roo but the buff laced is looking like a pullet but hard to tell yet on the buff. Don't know about the brahmas I only have a couple dark brahma bantams that are both roos.

The brahmas are both lights. The one with less feathering is a cockerel. I'm not sure about the other one, but I'm leaning towards pullet.
