Brain damaged chick? *sad update*

Thanks for the info. Now I really have to go to bed. Since I found this site AND figured out how to post a picture maybe tomorrow I can identify some of my mystery chickens. One was recieved last summer and named "Little speckled hen". HE is now a 3 foot tall rooster named Goliath. LOL. Talk with Y'all tomorrow.

I had no choice but to help mine hatch.....the mom wanted to eat the yolk, so she started peeling the chicks out herself very violently. So I took them away for about 5 hours , then put them back, and she left them in the cold and didnt tuck them under her.
I kept them in a brooder at 96 - 98 degrees for 2 weeks. Then lowered the temp. They lived on my nightstand at night, and in the kitchen with me during the day. It was a long 2 weeks, but they are happy and healthy now (one I accidentally killed by tube feeding NEVER tub feed a chicken I horridly found out. I pushed a little to fast....and it drowned.....I tried everything to save it. LEARN from me PLEASE. It was the most awful experience ever! I cried so hard! A Very Hard Lesson To Learn!)

Good Night!

Sorry I didn't reply yesterday. Major weather problems here. Monday brought landslides in the canyon I live in. Tuesday we had more heavy rain and flooding from the river. Today we had a lovely hail storm that battered my newly planted garden. High point of the last few days is the baby chick is staying awake a little longer and at least trying to walk. He is still drinking from the dropper but he has eaten some yogurt and warm wet chicken mash. I also gave him some vitamins. I am still concerned about his foot and I think he might be blind. Day 5 and still alive. We were also given 2 hens and a rooster on Saturday. My son left the front door open today. The rooster walked right in and jumped up on the couch with me. He started talking up a storm. I was working on my lap top but as soon as I moved it it he climbed right into my lap for some pets. Too funny.

I am glad to hear your chick is surviving, now to continue to progress in the right direction!
