Am I worrying for no reason?

Long story short is that my 13 yo sons Barred Rock roo (16 weeks old) was killed by a dog on Saturday.

He got on CL and found a local lady w/ 4-16 week old roos for sale $2 ea and asked if we could swing by and pick one up after church yesterday.

He played w/ all 4 and chose the most doscile of the group. We checked out all of her chix and goats and her Great Pyronese....simply put...made a nice visit ouf or our trip.

Jared got home and introduce "General" to the other 5 pullets, which promptly beat the bejeeezzus outta him..LOL.

My whole purpose for this rambling is that thru all the events of the weekend etc...I awoke this morn at 4 am and sat staight up in bed realising we didn't quarantine this bird at all !!!

I will say that everything at this lady's house looked healthy and fairly clean, but I've been a wreck since waking. I don't want my act of kindness for my sons loss turn into a bigger ordeal!!!

Checking on him this morn...he looks like any other healthy chcken.....

Is there anything I should watch for or do now???

All you can do is observe your birds on a daily basis for anything out of the ordinary. It's not too late to inspect the rooster for lice/mites, check his poop etc...anything external. Check the inside of his mouth for lesions, scaly leg mites and so on. One other thing I forgot to add; you can pick him up and put your ear to his sides and listen. Other than normal gut noises, if you hear gurgling, wheezing, rattling...there could be a respiratory problem. Hope this helps.

Thank you!!! I did all that yesterday avening and found nothing at all. I will continue to keep an eye on him and all the others. He's go a great temperment and gave me no problems while insptcting him.

Can't thank you enough for taking the time to give me some pointers!!!

Mike
