BYC Café

Good morning Cafè. Coffee is ready.

There were 3 deer inside the pen this morning. When they saw me the largest one ran toward the fence and cleared it and the 6 ft wide moat right behind it. The second one cleared the fence and smashed into the moat. She scrambled back up and leapt up to the top but I bet she hurt herself. The third one started to pace the fence. So I turned it off and started to walk towards her on the opposite side of the run where she couldn't see me but could hear me and she turned around and ran across the pen and jumped out on the roadside where she had more runway to get a good jump. I hope they don't make a habit of this. I don't want to find another dying deer in my fence.

Good morning and thanks for the hot coffee! We got over a foot of snow. It will be melting off quickly because the sun is warming things up.
I hope the deer stay away, DL and I hope that your driveway is easy to patch back up, Sally.
Pretty ugly storms last evening!

Good Morning,
Coffee is here, and yes, no sun but light rain...:thI went to the animal produce shop yesterday,it made me happy so many things to look at, I got some meat meals, not sure why I did that, but wanted to buy something there.

I am thinking of doing a dirt bath for my bantam as the rain persisted and their run is paver floor. I read ample of stuff about it, no play ground sand, construction sand only, add DE, wood ash..where on earth I get wood ash? My state is summer to another when it comes to winter, it is rare to have houses with fireplace. I search for wood ash..non was found. Construction sand....that come in big bag and they look quite big gravels.

I have been keeping chicken for 7/8 years now, I should know this by now, but I am not.
