Brand new and going big

Hi and welcome to BYC! We're so happy you decided to join us! :frow When it comes to your coop and run, bigger than you think you would ever need is ALWAYS better, and lots and lots of ventilation! :thumbsup How cold do your temps get during the winter?

Thanks chrissy! We typically get cold - I would say not uncommon to hit 0 f but this last winter we got to experience the polar vortex and spent all most a week at -30 F 😮😮😮😮

Ooh -30º F is rough on chickens and people too! 🥶 The lows in my area hit 10/15 below zero pretty regular during the winters, and my flock doesn't seem to mind it. They aren't particularly fond of the snow, but the cold doesn't bother them. Just make sure their coop has no drafts that will blow directly on them while they're roosting. And again, lots of ventilation to keep the moisture out. :)
