Hi there. I've been following backyardchickens.com ever since before we got our chicks 12 weeks ago. I'm glad I spent the time learning what I could before that, so as to avoid mistakes that could have been negligent to our birds. I keep up with the forums, you guys are awesome at helping each other out and who knows, maybe someday I will be able to offer some sage advice.

Welcome to BYC! I'm glad your found our community and we've been helpful for you. I am sure that in no time your chickens will have you experienced in chicken things and helping others in return :highfive:

What breeds and how many chicks do you have?

I'm only sure of one breed. We bought 8 chicks at Tractor Supply, and when we got home we saw that they didn't put the breeds on the reciept.
Two were definitely black sex links. One silver colored is supposed to lay olive colored eggs, two white chicks are supposed to lay blue eggs. (one has turned out to be a cockerel, not sure about the other one). I'll post pics and maybe someone can help me id the other breeds.
By the way, one of the black sex links is my favorite. She lets me pick her up and will sit in my lap with our Chihuahua.

Bessie is my lap girl. Silver is supposed to lay olive eggs. Unsure about the others. Fluffy is already clucking and appears to be queen bee in pecking order. The white ones were supposed to be blue layers, but as you can see, one is definitely not gonna lay eggs.
Well that's our babies, I'm just hoping that Peewee is a hen, but I doubt it.
