Brand new duck owner need help!

Awesome thank you. They are only a week old and I am freakin out Iike this is something that's gonna happen ASAP. I'm also feeding them flock raiser

I never fed wet food to my duckling either.

Just make sure they have plenty of water. Talking about this brings back memories of how messy ducks are compared to chicks. Mine used to take big beakfulls of food, then run over to the drinker, and drop it in, mix it all about, then scoop it up, shake their heads, splattering the walls and floor with slimy food! Then they would do it again and again as fast as they cold, back and forth.

Finally they would love to stamp it all about in the brooder, lay in the mess, and rub it all over their feathers before going to sleep. Yuck! Now I let my ducks raise their own ducklings on the pond......much easier for me!

Oh, thank you for this perfect description. My four Khaki Campbells are not about 7 wks old and, thank heavens, now live outside in their coop, small pen, and free range around the yard. I just had to laugh out loud when I read your post. This is my first experience raising ducks, and I was completely amazed at their behavior! and they were growing sooooo fast, and making such a huuuuuuge mess, and the coop wasn't finished yet, and, and, and. But now, we are all happy, they stay close to home, are eating out of my hand sometimes, and seem fairly easy to herd, and tend to just go back in their little home when it's time. Just love 'em!

If you are feeding Purina Flock Raiser you don't even need to supplement Niacin. It's formulated for ducks up to laying age & has sufficient Niacin already in it.

Thank you all for your help didnt even figure out I had replies till today (all most a week after posting!) Guess I am still very much in the brooder!
