Can't tell the size of it? How big is the container...and for how may chicks? Be sure the chicks have enough space to get out of the heat or they will broil. That looks like a lot of heat lamp for a space that small. And if you are brooding inside, they will already have the warmth of your house. Just some suggestions.

Thanks. I think it is only 64 quarts. Picking up my 3 chicks on Tuesday. I am planning on changing the bulb to a regular bulb now too. The brooder is in the sunroom which only has a little space heater. It does stay pretty warm in there though.

Welcome!

As you have already received some good advice, I will just wish you and your little ones all the best .. very exciting!

I hope you enjoy being a BYC member. There are lots of friendly and very helpful folks here so not only is it overflowing with useful information it is also a great place to make friends and have some fun.

You might want to also pop in and say hello on your local thread: https://www.backyardchickens.com/f/26/where-am-i-where-are-you ‘Find your State’s thread.

If you would like to share pictures and stories of your flock, you have come to the right place. BYC’ers never tire of these and do not back away slowly or commence eye rolling when the photo album or home videos come out
