Welcome to BYC! You have come to the coolest place on the internet for chicken knowledge.
I started with chickens last summer and the people of BYC have been great. This year I have tried hatching and buying chicks for even more chickeny joy. Please visit my BYC Page for my blog links that you may find informative or amusing.
Chicken.Lytle - How has your hatching gone? Was it a success!! Not only can I wait to finally get some chickens, but I seriously can't wait to hatch my own!! I told my hubby that when we're done having kids I will want more "babies" haha! Chickies would be perfect!! LOL!
Holy Smokes! I didn't even see this template in the beginning...so I will go ahead and answer these questions....it's never too late, right?! haha. Some of the answers will kind of repeat some of the things I've already said in my first intro, so sorry haha.
(1) Are you new to chickens / when did you first get chickens?
I'm am BRAND NEW to chickens and I don't have any yet, probably won't be for about 2 years. I'm trying to learn all I can about them so I'm super prepared when we do start raising them.
(2) How many chickens do you have right now?
Zero
(3) What breeds do you have?
None
(4) How did you find out about BackYardChickens.com?
BYC was actually the first choice for a GOOGLE search I did....and they FINALLY got it right! LOL
(5) What are some of your other hobbies?
Well I love to sew, I also LOVE photography, hiking, camping, fishing, hunting, and scrapbooking....and these days it seems like my new hobby is getting my hands on all the information I can get on chickens!! YAY!
(6) Tell us about your family, your other pets, your occupation, or anything else you'd like to share.
DH and I have been together since our Junior year in highschool and just celebrated out 8 year "anniversary" of our time together. We'll be celebrating our 2nd wedding annivery in August. We have a gorgeous little girl that just turned a year old on May 1st. We currently have no pets because we just lost our awesome cat to coyotes
She was the sweetest thing ever. I own my own business sewing things for mothers and babies and I've been doing that since July 2010. Ever since I was a little kid (probably around 6 years old) I've wanted chickens! My best friend growing up had TONS of RIR's and they were so much fun. I've wrapped up in the excitement of "I can't wait to see how many eggs there are" and I still am. DH's parents had about 10 RIR's when I started dating him and his Mom thought I was hilarious because I would always beg her to go get the eggs. I can't wait to share that kind of fun with my DD and my future kiddos!
