Chickens are AMAZING pets!!! And I think you will love having them around. Hopefully, this is useful to you but I would like to share a mistake I made when I first got chickens. So I was in a similar situation to you but I was the one who wanted chickens! I had done everything right up until I got the chickens, my mistake was getting one-year-old, scared and flighty chickens, They were not tame at all and at there age it's near impossible to tame them and it ruins all the fun. A week later I let them out and at night time I was looking everywhere for them because they had flown away! Eventually, I found them in the bushes up a tree and still to this day I cannot get 5 metres between them.

So try your best to get tame chickens or ones around 10 weeks old.
