One of my 15 week old RSL pullets has been going after the choc lab who adores and protects all 6 of my chickens.

Its hot out, so he is panting and the chicken is going after his lolling tongue. He sits there and tolerates it! He looks at me like, "what am I suppose to do? I love them"

Is this a passing infatutation or should I seperate them? Is there anyway I can stop brat-chicken? I don't want the dog to end up retaliating or the chicken(s) to hurt the dog.

It feels weird to have to think about protecting the dog from the chickens:/

Tell your dog to keep his tongue in his mouth.

What a sweet dog to put up with being tortured by a chicken. Couldn't be worse than kids, right?

Maybe this chicken thinks the dogs tongue is a living waterer. lol
Put some water by the dog and stick the chickens beak in it to show where water is. Just a thought.

That's a really good idea. My chickens HATE water. (except for drinking of course

My mums dog was told "gentle" a little too much and now the chicken boss him around and he doesn't know how to handle it. They've never had an accident though. He's a good dog. They just keep an eye out incase the chickens corner him somewhere.

I'd help out your dog if they annoy him, but don't make a fuss about it.

. . . brat gets her head bit off = payback.

. . . brat gets squirt from a bottle = unintended consequence.
