Bread baking?

  1. Does anyone here use potato flake starter or sour dough starter. Any tips or recipies?
    I am just getting started my potato flake sstarter is doing good and I have Carl's 1847 sour dough seed starter ordered. I tid making sourdough starter but it went bad before it got yeasty.

    I've been meaning to send for Carl's for quite a while, to try a no-knead sour dough I came across, and your post was a good reminder. The folks I know have had good results making their own wild starter from only flour and water, and just last week I, again [​IMG], promised myself to get some wild started soon. Til then it's only quick breads around here like soda bread and batter breads. What happened to your starter to make it go bad?
  3. I'm not sure when from yeasty smelling to off smelling, it was still bubbly.

    Yeasty is a sweet smell, off is a sour gag reflex. LOL
