Could you explain the turning of eggs while hatching.This will be my first time?

MissPrissy Not meaning to hi jack your thread but do you think this would make a good homemade incubator...its a little fridge that doesnt work anymore ..just sitting around needing a purpose...any suggestions? If I can get an incubator built get eggs and get this done in the root cellar maybe DH would be so amazed he would stop objecting!

MissPrissy, you should be ashamed and VERY PROUD of yourself. You can hatch eggs in a breaad box, while others can't get an incubator to work. Goes to show ya, it is not the quality of the machine, but the quality of the operator.

Awesomeness! I want to build another smaller one, after doing the big cooler-bator! It's working swimmingly, has 22 eggs in it, our first hatch! This little one would be lots of fun and you could do smaller batches of bigger birds like turkeys! Thanks for the inspiration!

Could someone please explain the dimmer switch to me. Does it take the place of a thermostat or are they used together?

Wow this is great.

I sat down here and read the whole thread and realized how old it is. I don't want to shell out the money for a bator, this is totally doable!

Can I ask how you added in the fan wiring?
