BREAD: To Feed or Not to Feed??

Understood Erin! No problem. Yeah, we only feed them bread every so often, so yeah, as a treat, which seems to be the general concensus. As long as it's not bad for them. That's funny about the hens who turn up their nose to white bread! lol

It's such a cold day out there today. Maybe I should give them a treat!

yeah chickens LOVE bread they go nuts over it everytime i throw small chunks of bread into the chicken run my hens go nuts they stumble & trip over eachother when they run after the bread

they all try to be the 1st one to get to the bread

Our chickens don't really go for bread, which I find strange.

I , (and the chickens) both think bread is great-as an occassional treat.

My girls act like its crack cocaine and they are all junkies. I give them one slice between 4 hens each day. They got to where they expect it and won't eat anything until they get their fix. Once they get their fix they resume their daily rotation of the yard, scratching and pecking at bugs and grass going around in circles all day roosting in their favorite spots along the way. My backyard is about 3/4 of an acre at least and they have full roam of it. They are some of the most spoiled hens I know of. Each night they put themselves back in the hen house for sleeping and I let them out in the morning and there they are expecting a slice of bread!

My lady's love the stuff and the ducks you would think had shovels for beaks it is gone in no time at all but I do not believe it is anything more then a filler as there is not any nutrition in the bread other then the wheat itself .......

I gave my 6 girls their first taste of bread (2 slices) tonight and WOW they went insane and 4 of them actually jumped up on my lap to get their taste. they are 5 months old and laying for 4 weeks
