I'm beginning to fear that my beloved little Jackie-O (so named for her perfect pillbox hat) may in fact be a Jackie Robinson. S/he was hatched the first week of April, so is nearly 3 months now. S/he is sweet and petite, the only one of my chickens who really tolerates being held or petted, and exhibits no roo-ish behaviors at all. I posted a pic of her on Instagram and someone on there thought she looked like a cockerel. I could barely sleep that night because of course, no roos in the city. So, BYCers - what's your take? First two pics are from 6 weeks ago, so she was almost 1.5 months. The others are all from this week.

I've been checking all week for comb/wattle growth, but what you see in the last pic is what you get - almost nothing. I'm now realizing the poor thing really needs a haircut. :/

I'm no Polish expert but I don't see ANY lobe/wattle/comb action happening, I think its a pullet.... again don't quote me because I have no experience with Polish

( I wish ) but if you look up pics of pullets and cockerels, this one looks more like a pullet.

I totally agree with chick chicks. I also am only a novice but I lean towards pullet. I hope you get to keep it. I live on 5 acres in a rural area so no one to complain. I love to hear my roosters crowing. Especially young ones just learning to crow, they are very entertaining!

I have a slightly older polish that I still don't know gender on. The one I thought was a girl has been crowing for about 7 weeks and they are only 13 weeks old.
No anything saying I can't have a roo other than my husband. We have one - the other polish that if my black one is a girl we may still keep as long as he's not too obnoxious.

I think yours looks girlish to me, but I can't even figure my unknown one out yet.

Thanks, guys. Polish seem to be very tricky to sex! My other two (wyandotte and Brahma) I'm confident are hens. It's just Jackie that's giving me trouble! I really hope she's a she - she's kind of become my favorite. :)
