Breaking a Broody? **Update: She's cured!!!***

This has worked for us twice. We placed a broody in a crate and put her in the back of the truck and went for a drive around town. The first time was by accident, we were moving hens from a friends house who didn't want them anymore ... one was broody. The next time I did it on purpose to break another one that wanted to peck hands and fingers. Not sure if it is the air circulating under/around them the vibration of the truck ride or the reintegration when we bring them back. Either way, success with minnimal time and energy.

Cool! I'll try that. The incredible awesomeness of the truck must have made her forget

I'm right there with you OP. I have a broody Australorp sitting on wodden eggs right now. Not very bright but deticated!

***UPDATE***

She is OFFICIALLY cured!!!! (XD)

I actually invented my own method (none of the previous options). All I did was lock her (and her friends) out of the coop all day, every day, for 2-3 weeks and she forgot about it!!!!!! She is now roosting w/ the others, going down to the run w/ the others, and acting normally HOWEVER... I haven't gotten any eggs from her yet (1 week later). When will she start laying again???
