Breaking eggs

My Cayuga duck is breaking her eggs immediately after laying. She never did this before. It started a couple months ago. She doesn’t eat them. Just breaks them and leaves them.

Did you ever crack an egg in front of her? You may have to start putting them in the incubator or under a different hen if they are fertile.

she breaks them as soon as she lays them. There’s no opportunity to grab it.

I think it’s behavioral. When I gather the shell it’s not weak.

I'm not sure. Sorry. We've never had that issue. Maybe give her some fake eggs for a bit? @Miss Lydia ? @Isaac 0 ?

I agree, sounds behavioral to me since she's not really eating them. I would fill the nesting box up with a few golf balls or fake eggs. That usually will work.

I was thinking of building some egg roll away nesting boxes if we start to have any egg issues.

She changed nests often. She likes to make her own in hidden areas. But the chickens always find it after a couple days and start laying in her nests. She has made coolest spots too. I’ll have to post pics
