Hello. I have used BYC for a research resource for a little while now and thought I should finally sign us up and get a little active. We (my wife and I), are looking to add a poultry division to our Must Bee Kiddin' Farm (MBK) in 2016. We are located on the west coast of Florida and are currently working hard on establishing a production-based farm. Our farming philosophy is based upon sustainable, regenerative agricultural practices that emphasize responsible land stewardship and respect/dignity for all those involved (both human and livestock) in the agricultural process. Our goal is to provide quality food for ourselves and eventually provide natural, open-ranged food choices for others that appreciate our efforts. Currently we run a meat goat herd that is our main field force in our clearing/thinning operations and raise honey bees for sale and hive products. Chickens are a natural progression and have been in the grazing plan since inception, but now the time to do it has come. We are looking to raise stock that is PRODUCTIVE and adheres to what it is supposed to be in ALL aspects within the APA Standard of Perfection. The incubator is ready and waiting. Top breed prospects to date are...

Chickens:
Ameraucana: colored eggs
Black Copper Maran: colored eggs and meat
Barred Rock: heritage, eggs, meat
Delaware: poultry industry historical significance, meat and eggs
Dorking: personal interest, meat, eggs

Turkeys:
Midget White
Narragansett
White Holland

We look forward to CONSTRUCTIVE sharing and learning here on BYC.
