Breakthrough!!!!

ANY progress is good. I remember DD at that age, her mother had just left, she was 4 and had no understanding as to why. SUPER clingy, spoiled by grandparents, potty mouth, and lots of other behavior problems...it gets better!!! It takes a LOAD of patience and effort to get them to become well behaved so you can help them sort out the mental/emotional issues they will have that stem from thier consequences. SUCH a hard road sis, and you sound like you are doing a FABULOUS job!!

to you and DH, and to little Robert too! Keep up the good work!

Thanks Cindi!!! It is a family effort for this little guy. Sara is his main caregiver, but one cannot help but adore that boy, even when he IS annoying the snot out of us. His curiosity is growing with leaps and bounds, and he is basically driving us all up a wall.

Sounds like my Riley girl!

She drove me absolutely BONKERS! The only time I got ANY peace was when she was asleep, and she would pop right straight back up at 5 AM on the dot and I AM NOT a morning person, and sure wasn't then

She used to hide from company, sit in the middle of her bedroom floor and scream, tell adults to "shut it," was not completely toilet trained 3 months before she was supposed to enter KINDERGARTEN etc. etc. etc. It was a trial and a half for the first year, and honestly I am not sure who is more scarred from it...me or her! The grandparents were no help, because they felt sorry for her and coddled her when she needed guidance. Not their fault...just overcompensated a bit for her loss. She did do the apologizing every other sentence thing too. It is so sad to see a kid so confused! HOW EVER....If it makes you feel any better she is now a typical smart alec 13 year old INTO EVERYTHING AGAIN!

Robert is actually responding very well to us. His annoying us is just him being happy and over loaded with curiosity. Hell, I am 49 years old. I did not sign up for this. However, one look at that face and him hollering "COME KISS ME" and I am done. His appetite is incredible, he is being kinder to the animals, he no longer runs down the hall yelling IM SORRY!!!!! He is responding, and at this point it is really a blessing. He runs up to me at random moments and says "hug?". Well of course, and a kiss too, and big fat I LOVE YOU.

can you hear me now? :

Am so happy to hear that. Children are like sponge. Consistency is the key. Yay.

My old fart resolve is slowly melting with this kid. He is just so stinkin HAPPY!
