Hi again,
My duck Daisy, is an almost 2year old layer rouen which i posted about her symptoms a few months ago. She used to breathe heavily with wheezing sound and sneezed. I gave her enrofloxacin , she was better then again those symptoms started and i’ve been told to give her antibiotics again. Now she’s breathing heavily again as if her nostrils is blocked and she sneezes. Since she had like 3 or 4 rounds of antibiotics since autumn i don’t feel good to give her antibiotics once more . Unfortunately There is no duck-specialised vet here. I would like to ask for your advice, is there any other way than antibiotics? Like home remedies..
Also My ducks somehow hates swimming and i have to give them bath myself, do you think this might be the reason that her nostrils are blocked ?
Thanks in advance

Can you see her nares are blocked? When drinking can she dunk her head in to clean out her nares? Sorry this keeps happening I know how you feel about doing antibiotics again.

Her nares are a little blocked since morning but she doesn’t dunk her head in water to clean it while Their water container is deep enough. I tried to help her though but she didn’t let me, she hates being touched or held..
It’s so sad to see her like this all the time :(

Do you have her inside asking because you could put her in warm tub of water and see if she'll bath and dunk her head. Most of the time if placed in water they start washing and preening.

I kept trying to put her in warm tub since she was a duckling but she seems to be afraid of water! When their pool was filled with water in summer she never went even close to it. And it still makes me wonder how is this even possible?!
However lately i’ve noticed when I put a bowl of water and chia seed in the morning after she’s left alone and my other duck and i are not around she tries to dunk her head in that small bowl and starts preening...:hmm

If you put her in a tub of warm water maybe she’ll actually enjoy it you’ll be right there to make sure she doesn’t try to jump out and hurt herself.
Fortunately she dunked her head in their morning treat’s water and her nostril is not blocked anymore:bow
I have put her in tub before, she tries to jump out of it immediately.. I know it sounds like a paradox for a duck but it’s like she’s aquaphobic! She enjoys small bowls or containers of water but she can’t stand too much water
