Hello everyone!!! These guys are about 12 weeks old. Got them from a local lady selling as “copper Wyandottes”. I never heard of that, and didn’t think it was a real breed but didn’t care much as I was in urgent need of some chicks to keep my single chick company.

But I am curious to know what they actually might be. Attached is also a picture of what she said they would look like, if that helps. #1 has slightly green legs - so possible Easter egger?

Also - do they look like pullets to you? I am particularly suspicious about #2.

Thank you so much!!!!

Oops just seeing that the picture the lady gave me of what they would look like didn’t go through. Here it is:

Both do look like pullets to me (judging by comb/wattle size and color at age 12 weeks.) I would expect most cockerels of most breeds to be quite obvious by now.

The adult birds in that photo look like Partridge Wyandottes to me. Partridge Wyandottes do exist.

But I am curious to know what they actually might be. Attached is also a picture of what she said they would look like, if that helps. #1 has slightly green legs - so possible Easter egger?
They could be Easter Eggers, or some kind of barnyard mix if she bred them herself, or if they originally came from a hatchery they might be one of the new hybrids that have been popping up in recent years.

I do not think they look right for Partridge Wyandottes (no rose comb in sight, color/pattern on feathers looks wrong too.) The pattern/color in their feathers might change as they grow up, so it's hard to be sure about that at present.

If they lay blue or green eggs when they grow up, that definitely means Easter Egger. If they lay some other color of eggs, their adult appearance may help sort it out, or they might always be puzzling.

Update: nothing definite yet, but getting more clues.

#1 had started singing the egg song with my older hens when they sing

#2 is growing suspicious neck feathers (pictured below). And comb and getting pretty big (~19 weeks)

Tail feathers aren’t super evident yet.

Still no idea on breed 😊.

What is suspicious about the neck feathers? Are you still thinking that chicken might be male? At 19 weeks, that is probably a pullet getting ready to start laying eggs (at which point the comb on a female does grow quickly from "chick" size to "adult hen" size.)

Hi everyone! In case it helps others in the future: I wanted to come back here and mention that both turned out to be pullets . Pretty sure they are Easter eggers as well as one lays a pink egg and the other green!
Thank you for updating!

It is nice to know the answer to the mystery, and I'm glad they really were pullets :)
