Breed and Gender? Comb? I'm at a loss...

At ~7 weeks Coral is mostly feathered (still dark gray!), gray-ish legs, 4 toes, extremely
small (the smallest of my 10 chicks at born within a day apart), and showing what I believe
to be a cushion comb? (Do the below images show a cushion comb? The infancy of a
strawberry comb? Other?)

Oh, and temperament is very sweet and non-aggressive.

Also, based on this, the above, and the below pics... Any idea about Breed and Gender?

I'm, literally, stumped.

Thx in advance,

The term I know for that kind of comb is Walnut Comb. Very cute chick, looks a lot like rooster right now. As far as breed goes, does it have feathered legs and or feet?

Thx Megan!

Legs and feet are not feathered. They're gray-ish and sized accordingly with her
diminutive size; perhaps with a touch of green?

I'm not finding anything online image-wise that's even close.

A very sweet, calm bird.

Well then she most likely is a bantam of sorts. Because of her small size. But let me look up real quick if there are any bantams with that kind of comb!

Okay so the closest thing I have found so far is a black bantam Chanteclers. What do you think? Also it might help to know where you got him from. Thanks!

From the local Feed and Grain store in Alamo, CA. They were my first stop and also were stumped
by the little bird.

I don't recall the breed you mention listed in the bins where my 3 yr old did his
check selection. Coral was the only bird of her 'variety' in the bin. He had to have him.

I understand that all of their birds originate from the Privett Hatchery in New Mexico.

Does that help?

True Araucanas have gray green legs and pea combs.

girl on top, boy on bottom. They can have tails but are preferred not to. I forget what age they were when these were taken but they were not fully mature at the time. There are other possibilities out there I am sure, but I am not familiar with a wide variety of breeds. Hope this helps.

Actually yes that helped quite a bit! I just went to the Privett Hatchery webpage and searched for chicks that fit her description. One more question though. Was she all black as a chick?

Anyway the breeds I found are as follows. Maybe one of these will sound familiar.

Dark Cornish Bantam
Black Wyandotte
Black Sumatra Bantam

I may have missed some on the webpage though.
