I would appreciate some breed and gender guesses. I guess so I can either come to terms with this or possibly feel relieved. Haven't had the best luck with our My Pet Chicken order. May 2 ship date so they are about 7 1/2 weeks old now, supposed to be all females. Out of 24, four chicks didn't make it they were very weak from the start and no matter what we tried they passed, this was mostly silkies. One white chick has had to work through some sort of itchy skin issue which has meant a lot of time and expense and now we seem to have roosters appearing left and right. The four below especially have me worried. I just hope I'm wrong but some seem to be announcing it rather clearly each day with crowing! These are all either assorted rare breeds or assorted brown egg layers or the last one possible a Marans.

Chick 1- My breed guess Ancona, gender guess Rooster. He's made it pretty clear has been crowing since 3 weeks old!

Chick 2- Breed guess Sicilian Buttercup, gender guess rooster. Has been crowing for 1 week it's not a super robust crow compared to the others.

Chick 3- Breed guess Appenzeller Spitzenhauben, gender guess rooster, has been crowing for 1 week.

Chick 4- I'm not sure of the breed thought it was a copper Marans (since I did order two marans as well) but maybe Golden Laced Wyandotte? I haven't heard this one crow yet but she/he does exhibit very similar behavior to the 3 probable roo's above.

Let me know what you think. Thanks.

Well, I'm saying your breed guesses are dead-on. In terms of personality, build and comb size, you can never be sure. But crowing is pretty certain. The wyandotte looks female, and it is a gold-laced Wyanadotte. If it was a copper maran, it would have only lacing around the neck, and darker legs. I'd say give it time on the Sicilian. I have an Old English Game Bantam rooster who is two months old, and does the I-laid-an-egg cluck.

Thanks to both of you for the replies, so 3 roosters, that probably won't work in a flock of 20, argh, what to do, what to do? If anyone else starts crowing I think I will faint!
