Thank you I will...1. Barred Rock
2. Buff Orpington
3. White Cochin
4. Speckled Sussex
5. White Rock Cockerel
6. RIR
Please post pics of all of their combs at six weeks except 5, for gender.
Please post photos of them when they grow up, especially Stripe. I'd love to see her adult coloring. She's unique.
Thank you! They are all so different from one another! We are newbies and excited to learn. I appreciate your thoughts and time. The only one that is looking to be cockerel at this time is Blanche, which looks to be a Cornish Cross, and yes rooster.
None of the others are showing signs of male-ness at this time, but it is very early.
I think Penguin is a Barred Rock, but could be a Cuckoo Marans...I can't tell from the angle. Stripes mean Barred Rock, messy looking means Cuckoo. Nothing in the coloring indicates male, yet. Hatchery stock are not easy to tell by coloring (while controlled lines are).
Stripe could be Welsummer, White Leghorn, or even Speckled Sussex....time will tell. Doubt EE as it doesn't have green legs nor other signs.
Toast is probably a Production Red, and you need to wait. Combs grow faster on PRs for both genders, however the boys telecast early. Nothing saying rooster for certain yet. You need to wait a few more weeks.
If Blanche is indeed a Cornish Cross, that is a meat bird, and he will develop very quickly, far outstripping the others in size very soon.
Watch and wait. Even two weeks will show more especially for the CornX and PR.
Congratulations on your new babes.

I'm pretty sure Cornish X are much larger at this age.....The only one that is looking to be cockerel at this time is Blanche, which looks to be a Cornish Cross, and yes rooster.

YeahHard to tell without seeing the photos of all chicks side by side...but that chick is much taller. larger, and has a lot more breast development....I'm also assuming it is on chick start and not meat bird, which can slow it down, but no, it isn't the largest I've seen of CornX at 3 weeks, so you may be correct.
It could be a White Rock...which matures a bit faster than the rest....or such other hybrid.
No matter, it does look male to me with developed comb and wattles at 3 weeks of age.
