Breed and gender??

Might be a maran. Do these things look similar?

I had considered a Maran during my Google "research" but then thought all the baby chicks looked like they had too much white/yellow on them compared to mine??

Not a marans. Leg color is wrong. (Marans have pink/white legs with a black wash, while your chick has yellow legs with a black wash.)

If it is a pullet, it’s a black sex link. If it’s a cockerel, it’s an Asian black.

Agreed. But farm stores usually don't carry Asian blacks, at least in my experience. So I would label it a black sex link pullet.

That was my initial thought as well, but when I got all of these chicks they also had lavender orpingtons and I had never seen anything other than buffs at the stores. I was surprised at the wide/unique variety of options that they had this year!
