Breed and pullet or roo?

Does anyone know what breed this is and if its a roo or pullet 8 weeks old

Hi!

I think that is a cockerel because You can easily see his large red comb and waddles however, he does not seem to have male saddle feathers. A picture of *him* from above would help a lot. Here is a picture of male and female saddle feathers.

That's because he's too young. Wait 3-5 weeks and those will come too

Somebody on BYC told me they came in at 8 weeks old. I suppose different breeds get saddle feathers at different times? Maybe? Lol. Thanks for correcting!

They can start to come in a little early but generally you won't see them like in your pic until 12+ weeks

Agreed, cockerel. Not sure the breed...

and yes, no chicken breed that I'm aware of starts to grow their saddle feathers earlier than 12 weeks. An 8 week old chicken is the same as say, a 10 yr old boy. You wouldn't expect him to have a beard yet...
