Hi y’all
I was hoping we all can talk about raising different breeds/ cross breeds of chickens ?

Currently I have Barred Plymouth Rocks, Americanas( recent Ameraucana cross) , an Easter egger and a Silverudd blue

And overall I find the Barred rocks to be very docile and curious. The americanas are docile as well but a bit less reluctant to be lap birds and fight the most amongst each other. The Easter egger is bossy to the other birds, but will allow herself to be petted. The Silverudd blue is quiet, less active and docile as well, she can be bit standoffish to the other birds.

WOw! you have quite the beutiful variety!

Well we ordered a variety of breeds to replace our stolen flock... and we will be breeding crosses and pure.

Pretty sure we will end up with a few experiments... but not till into next year of course and based on which birds we decide on will be best to breed.

I like my Silverudd’s blue. Mine arent super stand offish. They are friendly to me and I can catch them all but a few hens and the rooster out in the open. No one else could. They are definitely curious about the going ons in the yard and if they see me with any type of gardening tool they come running.
Just hatched 16 for me a couple other people. Have a black cock bird so all blues and blacks no splash might try to keep a blue male out of this batch for a few splash next year. BF4963EE-2400-4331-8344-DA767BDD63F3.jpeg

Went to work, while at work someone just took them from the yard, except for the flighty not so friendly birds. So I have a few light breed girls left... but all the super friendly birds or big ones gone. Then the one rooster we had left after that got killed by a hawk. The news had everyone out here freaked out the food trucks were not coming.,. So now the girls I do have are locked up. No more free ranging and working on a real big coop area for ordered chicks. People were panicking out here over every doom and gloom Rona related story... anyway just got to move on... and rebuild, improve security.
