I am the worst chicken photographer in the world and my models like to run around like rabid apes and fly directly at my lens, they act like a camera is a loaded shotgun add in bad lighting and chicken wire...then I sum it all up with poor descriptions and unreliable information. I felt this post in my soul

I hatched Svart Honas and was seriously told to look in their mouths....that's...not....easy

Had a "breeder" tell me she could sex pullets by her EGGSHELLS.

Might be true. If you take the shell after the chick hatches, you can mail it to some place and they check the DNA to tell the gender of the bird. Apparently it works for many kinds of birds, not just chickens.

Yes there is a company called iqbirdtesting.com if you send the eggs as soon as the chicks have hatched and there’s enough membrane inside the eggshell, so it’s actually the membrane that provides the DNA material for the test. They also do feather testing and blood testing on birds as well. Often used for Silkies as they are so hard to determine gender.

Oh you guys... this lady could tell by the actual air pockets and the "look of the fetus developing" that they were pullets or cockerels..... She was not mailing in egg shells ... lol. But that's pretty cool that you can do that!!
