Hello,
I really hope this picture posts correctly, first
time I've tried uploading a pic. I know it isn't the
greatest picture, my big white chicken does not
pose well, but if anyone has any guesses on breed or
gender that would be great!!

This was a Tractor Supply baby, in a bin marked
Buff Orpington Pullets... I'm new to chickens and don't know much but I do know
this big white bird with puffy cheeks and green legs is NOT
a buff Orpington. I bought three little chipmunk striped
chicks out of the same bin... The TS people had no idea what
breed they were but based on a lot of BYC lurking, I am fairly sure
those three are Easter Eggers and girls.
This white one is another story... I'm guessing also an Easter Egger? My kids are convinced that she is a HE...
What do ya'll think?

Thanks in advance!!

Thank you... When the white feathers started coming in it
was definitely a surprise, but I do like the way she ( maybe he?)
looks. This one is also the biggest of the bunch by far at about 6-7 weeks now.
I'm not exactly sure what saddle feathers are... What angle
do I take a picture from to get a better look?

With that red of a comb at 6-7 weeks old I would say it is an EE cockerel.

The red comb is what really has me wondering...plus this one picks at the
rest a little more than the others do. I don't know if
that is a gender thing, a personality thing or if she/he's just
mad cause I only have one like her. :)

So, I thought I'd give ya'll an update on the white EE gender mystery.
I guess the mystery is solved... My big white bird started crowing this
morning. So either "Buffy the hen" is very confused, or he just became
Olaf the Rooster.

Next question, anything I can do to encourage him
to be a nice rooster do we can keep him? I am in a rural
area and this is my first batch of chickens, so no older roosters
around ( and nobody else in the group is screaming
"I'm a rooster" yet...). No reason we can't keep him unless
he turns evil. He currently does a lot of picking at and chasing
the others around, but he is pretty easy to handle. Not my friendliest,
but still okay. I won't have a mean rooster around the kids though.
Any suggestions, or is that totally a personality wait and see?

Thanks!
