Breed guesses? I have searched the internet...

for just that reason - I'm curious:D Also I am giving two of them to a friend so I'd like to tell her what they are.

mmajw-
Pic 6 is that yellow chick bigger than the rest ?
no he is the smallest, started out white and now has kind of off-white feathers coming in. It's the same one that is shown on my bed with the grey girl. (She has now been officially dubbed "Dolly")

Well, do you know the source of the eggs? That is the best way to know. Just "winging it" with new chicks is a crap shoot at best.
Even when they get older, it can still be difficult, especially with mutts.

We got the eggs at a local feed store - and the owner there told me that this year all his eggs came from "professional" hatcheries. So although I had looked at feathersite for the breeds before - I went there and checked out his list of hatcheries in Iowa. I tried calling them today to find out what hatcheries but they are closed on Sundays. I'll try again tomorrow. Thanks for your help though!

I give you points for determination, anyway!

When I've gotten mutts of uncertain pedigree in the past, I just bade my time to see what develops.

Youll know soon enough what SORT of chickens you have, even if you never ID their breed as fact.

Ok here are the two I ended up keeping. The RIR is supposed to be a hen, although sometimes I think its a rooster based on behavior. The dirty white one is still a mystery. His legs are starting to turn a greenish yellow color and I don't know if the mohawk he has growing is just his feathers coming in or what. It certainly adds to his personality. I took a picture of them from the rear to show the size difference. He imediately turned around and gave me a look that said "I know you did NOT just take a picture of my butt!" They love to hang out in my Ladies Mantle.

Thanks for any input

Oh my gosh, they're soooo cute. I love the name cooper! I have no idea what they are but they're beautiful!

I think the green legs mean EE or Americana..Ive read a thread here before that mentioned the green legs. And I dont know about cooper, but give us a closer pic comparison of their combs, b/c cupcake in the one pic seems to have quite a bit coming in this early.
