Hello everyone! You’ve all been so helpful to me in answering my various questions about breeds haha, so I’m here with another one! The attached image shows our bird Sage, and I’m curious what y’all think her breed is? She’s supposedly a “Starlight green eggar” but looks absolutely nothing like the other one we got at the same time. thanks for any thoughts!

Pretty sure she's an Easter Egger.
I just did a quick google search and that looks pretty similar, the leg color really threw me off.. she’s the only one I have with darker legs. I’m comparison, this is the other one that’s supposed to be a Starlight Green and she looks much different!

The SGEs come in a wide variety of colors. They are a hatchery created mix, basically a non-standard easter egger type chicken. They combine a blue egg layer with a lot of other types of chicken, from their appearance.

Your SGE varies somewhat but seems in line with my experience of them. If they don't lay a green egg, then we should reconsider. :)

It could also be an EE who lays green eggs. Old-style EEs typically have beards and muffs and slate shanks, but hatcheries are now selling EEs that don't have those. Could be one of the new hatchery EEs.

Welcome to BYC! :frow

Looks like a starlight green egger or EE to me.. they are a hybrid and won't breed true therefore having many variations in phenotype.. (observable characteristics). Their description says pea comb but shows a straight combed (non bearded) bird on their website. See the variation in chicks from Hoover's including some beards..

And their description..

"The plumage color is also highly variable and comes in many beautiful color patterns not typically seen".

EE do also fall into this category.
