Same.Seeing the legs better makes me think a Modern Game Bantam mix.
She is tiny! I was almost concerned when I saw her eggs - they are literally bigger than her head. In reply to your other question - yes, almost daily. Which I thought odd for a game bantam, so maybe you're right about the dutch? In that pic she's standing upright like a really chonky modern game.
She is TINY.
It's a possibility. Now that we see her standing, she also looks to have some Modern Game in her lineage as well. She is tiny! What breed is she?i dont mean to jump on your post but i cant figure out what one of my girls is. she lays this egg, she is white and pretty good sized too. if anyone has any idea i would appreciate it so much
Hey! I figured out what kind or chicken she is ... "Yours!"I live on a 20-mile long island in the middle of nowhere, so I think (or would hope) any chicken breeders on island with such a rare, imported breed would do better then shove it in a tiny cage with a too-small ring around its leg... and no hawks here. So I don't think she's anything too fancy.
Here's a photograph of her standing, so you can better see her size relative to the bantam rooster.
I agreeThe first one is a Game Hen.
Genuinely think I will keep her and lie to the old owner... they had so many chickens cramped in that pen, doubt they'd even noticeIt's a possibility. Now that we see her standing, she also looks to have some Modern Game in her lineage as well.
Look up pics of Birchen Modern Game Hens.
Honestly doubt they'd even care.Genuinely think I will keep her and lie to the old owner... they had so many chickens cramped in that pen, doubt they'd even notice
She's such a sweetheart, obviously has never been handled but still very friendly and curious.
I think you're right; a quick Google search of birchen modern game yielded the below hen, which looks very similar.
Damn right she is :')Hey! I figured out what kind or chicken she is ... "Yours!"
From the sound of her original home, she definitely sounds like a mix - and if the former owners kept birds that were "interesting," like many people do, there's probably a Silkie (or some other type of tinted lobe bird) in her woodpile, somewhere. That would account for the blue earlobes. My sister has a few hens like that. We call them "BOE" Best-Of-Everythings!
