breed help

So I have been reading and researching as to what breeds I want to get. There is an amazing amount of info out there that it can be overwhelming. I'm thinking of 2 breeds, 1 egg layer and 1 meat bird breeds. I live in southern AZ and the summers will get to mid to high 90's and the winters will get down to low to mid teens and single digits do happen sometimes. I am thinking of the standard white leghorn and Cornish cross. I just want to be sure my climate will be ok for both breeds. I want to be sure they will work for me before I start a coop.

The cornish x will be full size around 10 weeks, you will not have them for long. Leghorn sounds good for me though. Cornish would be fine as far as i know.

Maybe try raising Red Ranger broilers for meat if you want a bird that will live longer than a cornish. The females will lay eggs if they reach the age. But if you want a bigger breasted bird, cornish is the way to go

I'd recommend Turkins. They are a good dual purpose breed. They take the heat well as well as the cold. And they are pretty good layers.
