He might have cochin in him. There are buff cochins too...I still think the pict makes him look like a banty. Is he bigger than the hens? He's identical to my banty buff cochin roo.

I googled buff orphington rooster in images and your guy looks just like the ones shown there, given variations on lighting - I think you got exactly what you wanted.
