I am a first time chicken owner. I researched as much as possible before buying any. I wanted them to help with my garden and I use a lot of eggs. My sister and friends sold me on them.I bought my first chickens at Tractor supply. I wanted docile and laying hen's. Red comets were what I decided on. The salesman sold me bantams but they don't look like regular chickens. As far as I can tell they are a silkie cross.

Good to have you join the flock!

If you can post a few pictures I am sure folks can help identify them.

Best place to post them is here......

If they are bantams they aren't sexed as hens. :hmm
Folks are pretty good at telling males from females on here too.

Pictures in natural lighting, normal standing positions (not held) are best. Side shots and head shots of individual birds really help.

Best wishes.

Hope the forum link @21hens-incharge gave you will be helpful. Some of the members here are very good at identifying breeds and genders. How old are your chickens? It's easier to id them once they are at least 5-6 weeks old.

Thanks for joining us!

I am trying to upload. We just live in a remote setting. One bar of service. Three of them have lots of feathering on the legs and feet. 2 smaller ones have less feathering but they all have tuffs on their heads and no waddles yet. Black skin but a couple have yellow beaks. They are 10 weeks old now.
