Breed of chickens

They are now 10 weeks old and still have lots of feathering on the legs and tuffs on their heads. No combs or waddles yet.

Hope the forum link @21hens-incharge gave you will be helpful. Some of the members here are very good at identifying breeds and genders. How old are your chickens? It's easier to id them once they are at least 5-6 weeks old.

Thanks for joining us!
They are pure silkies.
Sometimes hatchery quality sillies have "flaws" like yellow beaks and missing the extra toes.

I have a faverolle that is missing her little extra toes.
Oh. Thank you! Love them but from what I read I may not be getting a lot of eggs. I may have to add to the flock next year. They are super adorable.

Welcome to Backyard Chickens.
Sorry you didn't get the birds you ordered. Silkies are not considered good layers, however the breed is known for being among the best broody hens. Which means when they do lay eggs they often decide to sit on them & hatch them. If you don't have rooster- the eggs will be infertile.

Thank you. I guess I will research more next year and add a couple to the flock. I did not want anything aggressive but I did not want to get attached either. Well, I am attached. The garden gets more attention this year and sadly the horses and dogs are not getting enough. I really didn't need more pets . These guys are just too cute!
