Breed of turkey suitable as a pet?

We're looking to adopt a turkey strictly as a pet. Are there any breeds that will live actually live a full lifespan without succumbing to the overgrowth problems of most turkeys bred for meat? And any ideas where we might be able to find these types of turkeys?

MANY varieties of turkeys, those know as the heritage varieties, live a long and healthy life and make good companions.

Some that are well known for their close relationship with people are Narragansett and Midget White.
