breed selector?

My pet chicken is a great website- thats how I picked my birds!
All but the silkie are heavy in my flock and of them all I would most highly recommend the Jersey giants and Blue Laced Red Wyandottes. Not a bad one in the bunch all are curious, docile, and mellow. I love them! I honestly only ordered the giants because I had two roomies there with me one saying "I want a BLACK chicken!" and the other saying "what is the BIGGEST chicken we can get?" It seemed the best way to satisfy both, but I do not regret the last minute add on. In fact, if I were forced to rehome all my chickens except 2, it would be the Giants.
By the by, they mature VERY slowly and mine are smaller than all my other standards at 8 months old. Don't know if you are planning to get chicks, but if so that is something to consider.

just curious, would it be ok if Kari Dawn puts the new chickens in the current pen and isolates the old one?

seems to make more sense to isolate the one rather than five

I wouldn't because if they turned out to be sick the pen could very well end up contaminated. Some things are air born and others are spread by contact (lice, mites, etc. could get into the coop/run) or droppings. Quarintine is a pain, but the first time you bring a sick/infested bird home and find out before your whole flock is expose you realize how worthwhile it is.
