Hello! Newbie here, first time posting (but I have been reading a ton since December and am so thankful for this forum!) 3 weeks ago we hatched 8/10 of our “barnyard mix” eggs and we’ve been in love ever since. For fun and experimental purposes we’ve tried to wing sex and note tail feather growth (I know it’s not always accurate but my kids are journaling about it for school.) I’m noticing comb growth and color is coming up on some of our chicks and wanted to see what the great minds here thought in regards to sex and breed? I have my own thoughts but I’m totally new at this so they don’t hold much weight 😂. TIA!!!!!!

I don´t know what breeds.

You said these were barnyard mix eggs?
Depending on the crosses, the parents can affect feathering on males vs females. But it only works for sexing if you use specific breeds and plan for it.

Yes he said Barnyard mix, but also told me they would likely be amber whites or barred rock based on where he got them from in the coop? Regardless, we love them. They’re all incredibly sweet and friendly (thus far.)
